Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts Artist-in-residence

I am thrilled to announce that I’m joining Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts as an Artist-in-Residence for 2024-25.

Since moving to North Carolina and visiting Arrowmont in February for my interview, I’ve delved deeper into Southern Appalachia’s rich history, culture, ecology, and arts and crafts.

I’m excited to immerse myself in the community at Arrowmont, where I will develop a new body of work and expand my practice into the realms of weaving and textiles.

Review for Notes from Another Place

A review for Notes from Another Place, an exhibition that I co-curated with Boryana Rusenova-Ina at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, Texas. This exhibition reflected on the politics, aesthetics, and experience of belonging. Rather than highlighting discomfort or unease, this exhibition revelled in the endless possibilities of what emerges in the movement and migration from the familiar into the unfamiliar.

Building capital - Interdisciplinary panel discussion

Building Capital, a panel discussion I co-organized and participated in, explored the intersections of art, architecture, and finance. Bringing together voices from across disciplines – including architectural historian Professor Sara Stevens of University of British Columbia, London-based architect Charlie Edmonds of Civic Square & Future Architects Front, and Chicago-based artist Frances Lightbound. This panel created a space for critical dialogue on how the built environment shapes, and is shaped by, economic systems. By engaging with historians, architects, and artists, this interdisciplinary panel discussion aimed to expand the conversation around spatial politics and artistic practice.
